Are you looking for fun, memorable group activities for adults in the Bay Area (that don’t involve bar-hopping)? We’ve got you covered!
While San Francisco is renowned for its party scene, there are plenty of activities that do not involve drinking or partying.
Here are our top 7 sober activities to experience in the Bay Area!
7 (Sober) Bay Area Activities for Adults
1. Explore hidden treasures at the Land’s End
The Land’s End Hike (which, let’s be honest, is more of a walk), is the perfect place to start a fun day in the Bay Area.
Here you will find stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, as well as hidden San Francisco treasures like the Rock Labyrinth and Mile Rock Lighthouse.
2. Learn how fortune cookies are made
Located at the heart of Chinatown, the Golden Gate Cookie Factory is the perfect place to get a quick mid-morning snack and watch how fortune cookies are made.
Adults can also buy some X-rated cookies to take back home!
3. Look for ghost ships at the Golden Gate Bridge
Walking across the Golden Gate Bridge is probably the most touristy thing you can do in San Francisco.
However, it is worth it just to understand the sheer size of the bridge. Or, if you don’t feel like walking, you can easily rent a bike nearby!
For an added thrill, look for one of the Golden Gate Bridge ghost ships that have been known to cruise by when the fog rolls in.
4. Have high tea at the Palace Hotel
If you are feeling fancy, stop by the gorgeous glass atrium at the Grand Court of the Palace Hotel for a cup of afternoon tea.
But don’t be surprised if a mysterious ghost taps you on the shoulder while you are enjoying your finger sandwiches!
The Palace Hotel is rumored to be haunted by more than one restless spirit.
5. Walk or drive down Lombard street
Paved with red brick and lined with perfectly manicured lawns, Lombard Street is known as the “most crooked street in San Francisco,” and perhaps even all of Bay Area.
6. Check out the Exploratorium at night
If you are looking for an interactive experience, check out the Exploratorium After Dark program.
Crawl, slide, or bump your way through the Tactile Dome and explore the rest of the interactive museum with over 650 exhibits.
